Article 3 of Additional Protocol No. 4 to the ECHR protects nationals from expulsion and guarantees them the right to enter their own country and stay in it as long as they want. Article 4 of Protocol No. 4 to the ECHR and Article 1 of Additional Protocol No. 7 to the ECHR offer certain procedural safeguards to aliens in respect of an expulsion procedure which is underway or is about to commence.
